problem after gaim upgrade

i just upgraded everything with apt-get -y upgrade and now gaim will not start. when i try to start it, i get the following error message:

gaim: relocation error: /usr/lib/ undefined symbol: _ZTVN10__cxxabiv120__si_class_type_infoE
I've never seen anything like this before.

I'm no expert, but from the message, it sounds like gaim is not in the same place it was before. Are you starting this from an icon on the menu? You may want to use the menu editor to see where the gaim selection is pointing and verify that that is where gaim runs from now. If you're using a desktop icon to run it, again, you should check where the icon is pointing to be sure that's where gaim runs from.

Again, this is just a suspicion on my part.
