Printer won't print text! - very strange problem

I am running Vector Linux with CUPS (v 1.1.23) and Gutenprint (v5.0.0). I have an Epson C66 and I am using the C66 driver that came with gutenprint. When I check http://localhost:631/printers it reads "Epson Stylus C66 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.0". When I try to print a web page, it prints the color portions (headers, side bars) but not the main text. When I try to print a text file from OpenOffice, adie, tea, abiword, or adobe acrobat reader, it sounds like it is printing, but nothing shows up on paper.

My system is set to dual boot, so if I boot into windows, it prints just fine. And the Epson printer utility tells me that my black ink cartridge is half full. The color ones have less ink, yet they print just fine.

I don't know when this problem started, but if I remember correctly, I upgraded to Gutenprint to try and resolve this issue. Any ideas as to how I could fix this would be appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: I'm a dumba$$. I had to clean my print heads with the "escputil -c" command. I cleaned them with the espon utility under windows, but that still didn't work. But once I used the above command, everything started working again. Oh well.

I wouldn't kick yourself for that one. Seems more like a workaround than an expected requirement to me. And thanks for sharing your solution in case others have problems like this as well!
