Printer problem

Hi,

I am trying to get a black and white 1 series HP printer to work with a Toshiba notebook on Ubuntu Breezy. When I try to print, it shows on my machine that it is printing, but nothing gets printed.
My setup:
System -> Administration -> Printing, then 'new printer', 'Local Printer' and selected various HP drivers.

This is what the log file has:

Jan 9 22:28:54 localhost hpiod: 0.9.5 accepting connections at 32769...
Jan 9 22:28:54 localhost hp: unable to open /var/run/hplip/hpssd.port: No such
file or directory: prnt/hpijs/hplip_api.c 84
Jan 9 22:28:54 localhost hpiod: invalid message:

Jan 9 22:29:10 localhost gconfd (bastienne-7374): starting (version 2.12.0), pid 7374 user

Sorry for such a long post.

Thanks in advance

This typically occurs when the print queue is pointed at the wrong port.

When installing the print queue, did the installer detect your printer. If not, how did you decide which port to assign it to?

If usb, then it is likely going to be /dev/usb/lp0.
