I've entered printer driver hell . (oh and this probably should go in the hardware section, i realize that, but there's a curious problem with lq.org right now on my machine in which half the forums don't have new topic buttons)
I'm trying to install the Lexmark driver for my Z23 printer and have made it through the largest error just in time to meet one that seems to have no solution availible.
Quote:
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.24343: line 16:
[:=: unary operator
executed
while executing
"close $io"
I have no idea what to do. Should I try to force the install? I'm totally gnashing my teeth with this..its driving me up the wall.
oh and actually if you do get this working, i would like to see a step by step if you wouldn't mind doing so, on how you got this done...
i have never seen more grief in installing something like it does when it comes to the lexmark z23, z25, z33, z35 printers...
I have a lexmark z33 that is supposed to have the linux drivers and work with linux but I have never gotten it to work, I can get the printer to talk to the pc but it wont print, it just sucks the paper through! Guess its time for a HP printer
I am also having problems With the lexmark Z23 printer. Went out and got a printer , that was supposed to be able to work under Linux . And I have tried everything , I know to try and get this thing to work. Driving me Crazy. So, if anyone comes up with anything , please post. And if I do come up with anything , I will also post. Thanks.
I have found this, while searching for any thing that would help. Get this thing working . http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/jsmei...i-lexmark.html
Don't know if this will help , or just get us all mad. But , I know I didnt like what I read.
