Print remotely over windows pc

there's only one printer in my house, and that's connected to a windows pc. so far i've always sent the files to the windows pc by mail or using an ftp server.. but the problem is, first of all, that i dont wanna print in such a complicated way any more, and second, and second of all, that i've no possibility to print anything that's not a file windows can read..

mine and the windows pc are in the same lan, so they can easily connect to each other. i ask myself if there's any possibility to use the windows pc as some kind of network printer. i think there might be a windows application to turn the pc into a printer, but i don't know.. and as i've never printed on linux, i don't know how to install all that as well...

so.. does anyone know whether there is a way to do that, and how exactly i could do it?

I don't know how to solve your problem as it is.
Some time ago, i was in a similar situation.
I ended up setting up a network (behind a NAT firewall) and buying a new printer that connected to the network on its own. Then any computer could easily access it, including a guest that had brought their laptop.
Not the shortest path, but it is a great setup.

Um... yeah, I've thought about that before, but I hoped there was a cheaper way. Actually, I could use a new printer since the current one is kinda slow, but as it still does its job, and does it well, I think I'm gonna look for another way.

Is there maybe a possibility to use the Postscript file format to transfer the data to the other PC? Well, I'd still need to send the file to the other PC, but I could print whatever I want without having to convert in a Microsoft file format.
