pretty new to Linux just looking for info

I am a second year networking student at ITT-tech, i have already completed my Microsoft classes and am about 5 weeks into my first real exposure to Linux. I have been working with Fedora 12 and cannot seem to find my gdmsetup. I am trying to change my login screen, for no real reason other than to mess around and try and learn a thing or two in the process. If anyone knows a bit about this or knows where any worthwhile info about Linux that could help a new comer i would appreciate being pointed in that direction. thanks!

For linux the best way to start IMHO is
man hier
/bin, /usr/bin, /sbin, /usr/sbin, /etc :)
not as difficult as it looks really.
Then you have man <cmd>, info <cmd> and whereis <cmd>.
Do not try to compare linux to winduhs. Linux is a lot different and easy.
