Preserve Menus - Mencoder Rip

Hi I am basically using 3 pass encoding to rip a DVD. However I cannot find an option to rip in a way that will preserve the DVD's built in menus system, So what is happening is that I am ending up with a great backup but without menu's. This is what I am using.

Quote:
rm frameno.avi
mencoder dvd://N 1 -ovc frameno -o frameno.avi -oac mp3lame -lameopts vbr=3
mencoder dvd://N 1 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vpass=1 -oac copy -o movie.avi
mencoder dvd://N 1 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vpass=2 -oac copy -o movie.avi
Is there an option I can add ?

Well I have already added a few other options so that it now loooks like this
Quote:
mencoder super2fixidx.avi -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=800:vhq:vpass=1 -oac copy -o super2.avi

No, there's no option at all. video files don't contain menus... a DVD menu and a video track are totally seperate, in fact each movement in a dvd menu is a video in it's own right.

to preserve menus is easy, the trick: don't encode, just copy. Like so
Code:
cp /dev/dvd ./dvd.backup
walla, menus preserved, but not disk space.
