hi,
i can't browse / ftp / do anything / on the internet. my modem dials up, connects, ok, but that's it. i have the following system: iMac 400MHz / 10GB hard drive / 320 MB ram HD partition: 1500MB for mac os 9 / rest is for Yellow Dog Linux 2.2 i keep getting 'ppp0, device not found' (or something like that). i truly don't know what to do, and hope you can help (i have been looking to solve this problem for weeks, and would like to use linux exclusively, but can't see not being able to access the internet (so i have to boot into mac os 9 to get online). i would appreciate anyone who can SOLVE this problem for me. thanks, efs |
1) Look whether /dev/ppp0 exists.
2) Is ppp support comlied in? |
If your modem connects you should be able so see what device has initiated connection
then you need to set up route table and dns servers + /etc/resolv.conf regards |
reply to post 2: i looked in /dev for ppp0 and it does not exist, but ppp is supported (so it says)
reply to post 3: /etc/resolv.conf has one line: search localdomain the device hat is connecting is ttyS0 thanks, efs |
Sorry, I wrote in absence of my linux box. I have /dev/ppp, but not /dev/ppp0.
