Power off

I hav been having some trouble switching my pc off, it is quiet an old board so there is no automatic shutdown now my bios is set to instant off when the power switch is pressed, but this does not work. When i try to shutdown i have to keep the power button in for 8 sec. An this is a problem. I was wondering if this can't be something in the linux powermanagement and wher I can change It

If the motherboard doesn't have APM capabilities chances are there's nothingthe Linux power management system can do to affect it one way orthe other. I'm not an expert on this, though, so you may have more luck if you post the make/model of your motherboard as well as the Linux distro (and kernel version) you are running.

Yeah, you'll need to have the apm module.
