Hi

I have installed Postgresql in Linux 8.0
I need to connetc this from my windows System
So I have installed the Postgresql ODBC Drivers in my windows Machine

But still I am not able to establish the connection
I found that the port for postgresql is 5432

I put netstat in my linux machine but this port is not established
What to do how to see wheather this port is established or not
My Postgresql server is running fine

Please anyone guide me how to connect form my windows system

There is a very active news group that might be more help. I can't recall the news feed but you can get the info from the postgres.org site.
first I assume that you are able to login into Postgres - right? Next you have configure Postgres to allow TCP connections. Make the change in the postgres.conf where
tcpip_socket = true
Make sure the OS is not blocking the connection.

Hello.

In addition to the postgresql.conf suggestion (which i think is correct), you should go to the pg_hba.conf file and allow the network. THis is at the bottom of that file. Instrinctions are actually in the file itself. Finally, you must restart postgres with the "-i" option to allow for intranet connections. All three must be done or it wont work accorinding to the http://www.postgresql.org/docs/7.3/i...ive/index.html website. Good luck.
