Pop/Imap using RH7 Ports not open HELP!!!

I've been trying to get my pop/imap mail server up. No matter what I do, I can't access port 110.

ipchains: port 110 open

Turned on the pop3 via ntsysv

hosts.allow & hosts.deny=empty default should be ALLOW

imap service=ON

SMTP service=ON (in the sendmail.cf I changed the daemon option for 127.0.0.1(localhost) to my machines ip x.x.x.x

I've done a port-scan and it says 110 is closed. 25 & 80 are open which is how I set it up.
One note in the var/logs/secure there is an entry sshd listening on 22 but 22 is closed

I've even waved a magic wand. Nothing

Is there something I missed?
