Playing/Ripping Sony Copy Protected CD's

Does anyone know if there is a way to play those Sony protected cd's which prevent computer access by crashing the pc in Windows or a Mac. There have been a few of them floating about and I know Sony are changing there tactics on this issue but I still have a cd and I cant play it at work

Whilst it does not crash my Linux box I certainly can't get it to do anything with it either...


Fairly sure a sollution is out there ... somewhere.

sounds good to me. Get the felt tip pen, or sticky tape on there dude, and make a backup copy of yer disk. Let us know if it works

so what happens when sony start putting a data track between each audio track? Can't see any reason that wouldn't be possible, and then it would make this hands on approach redundant

My Digital Audio Player will connect directly to a stereo via line out and rip MP3's on the fly. I'd like to see Sony stop me from doing that

Cool but are you grabbing that feed on an optical or analogue line?!?!?!?!?

Most likely analogue, it is very hard to find a stereo and mp3 player/encoder, both with optical out/in.

Thats the perfect sollution - Bypass the cdrom altogether with no signal degredation!
