play shoutcast without GUI

I'm trying to get streams from shoutcast.com to play through a command line audio player on a Slackware 9 beta box. I'm fiddling with mpg123/321 et al, but the hard bit seems to be capturing the streap from the remote location (eg http://193.201.220.87:8000)

has anyone ever tried this ?

I typed mpg123 http://193.201.220.87:8000/ the last slash seems essential. It took a couple of times to get it to work but it finally did. I did nothing special but type it in as user and root. It finally worked around the 5th time.

El Kid,

your method worked first time - that's mad! The last slash seems to make all the difference.. I'll have a look at mp3blaster too
