Unhappy PHP RPM 4 RH9 - Someone Plz Help.....

Hey all!

I have a dedicated server that I purchased about 6 months ago. It does not have any server GUI like Plex, Cpanel, etc. Only Webmin, a FTP, and SSH account. It has RedHat 9 / Apache 2 / MySQL 3.23 / PHP 4.21

I have learned a lot so far and enjoy it much more than my Windows 2000 hosting from before. However I am having one major problem.

I need to update PHP to a newer version (the current one is 4.21). The reason is because I have some PHP scripts that need the GD library version 2 and my server has only version 1 right now. The newer versions of PHP (version 4.3 or better) have GD2.

I am still leaning this Linux things, and doing stuff with SSH, however I am not at the point yet where I can compile my own source code and install PHP from the download on PHP.NET.

I have searched online everywhere for an RPM of PHP version 4.3 or better. I can't find one for RedHat 9. I can find every other distro like Suse, Mandreake, I just can't find RedHat 9. Webmin has a feature where I can install an RPM but I can't find it.

I really need to update PHP, not even my web host can find a newer version and they want to charge me $200 to update it. (I can't afford that).

Does anyone know where I can download an RPM for RedHat 9? I can't understand why it's so hard to find because I can find one for many other distros..

Please if anyone knows where I can get one let me know....

you might want to try fedora core 1 rpms for php, though i've never done this so can't say if it will work or not.
