Angry php is making me mad...

Ok I'm really really PO'ed..I got php installed. (even though I THOUGHT mod_php was installed already, but php files didnt work, and i dont remember selecting it to be installed). This is Slackware 8.

I get a prompt to d/l the *.php files.. the php file is simply "<?PHP phpinfo() ?>"

here's the setting from my httpd.conf:

# And for PHP 4.x, use:
#
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php .phps

AddType application/x-tar .tgz

If i rename the php file to *.php3 however, I get ""<?PHP phpinfo() ?>" on a blank page.

I cant think of anything else to try. Could someone PLEASE help me? this is apache 1.3.20, and php (the one I tried to install) is version 4.1.1.

Make sure you have the following line:
AddModule mod_php4.c

If all else fails. Download the Apache soure, php source and follow the instructions included with php to staticly link php into apache. That is the way I run it.

my god I love you...I added
LoadModule php4_module libexec/libphp4.so

and then

AddModule mod_php4.c

to httpd.conf and it worked . Except it php v. 4.0.5. I'll have to see if I can upgrade it. thank you so much

I ran into the same problem where Netscape gives me a "document contains no data" while loading php page.
I have

AddModule mod_php4.c
LoadModule php4_module modules/libphp4.so

in httpd.conf.
httpd starts properly.
I have apache 1.3.23 and php version 4
I don't know what else to try. Really appreciate if someone could help me to figure this out.

Thanks,

Bisbane

Thanks Mace,

But my box is running RedHat 7.3, apache and php4 are already installed. I'd like to make it work with RedHat if possible. Please let me know if you have any other suggestion.

Thanks again
