Ah, yes... slip of the tongue.

So we have decided on "Linux in funny places."
Perhaps "Windows' B.S.O.D. screens in funny places" as well?

I saw the B.S.O.D. on a cash till display in some supermarket out in the sticks. Doesn't exactly fill you full of confidence eh?

SciYro 01-19-2004 05:46 PM

Nukem, the site which you posted has all its images replaced with banners for its site...The people who put them up probably thought that they could get some cheap traffic!

Sorry, I didn't intend this to be a bash microsoft post, but this is so funny:

I read that a really early developers version had been leaked out in China and Microsoft weren't happy about it at all. Not because it could potentially lose them money by people seeing how bad it's gonna be, but because of some other lame excuse about it not being ready for public testing yadda, yadda. It looks like a load of bovine excrement anyway - they've given it a new clock and a new 'side bar' that takes up about 1/5th of the screen! Who wants an analogue clock that large on their screen?

Longhorn BETA is out... it sucks.

here is that thing about the wristwatch in more detail:
Quote:

Citizen and IBM Linux WatchPad -- Citizen Watch and IBM Research are collaborating on Linux Watch technology and have jointly developed their first prototype, to explore a new type of personal information access device for the pervasive computing era. It contains a 32 bit MPU (18-74 MHz) with 8MB DRAM and 16MB Flash, has a 320 x 240 (QVGA) pixel display with touch panel, and runs a Linux 2.4.x kernel with a Microwindows GUI. Interfaces include Bluetooth, IrDA, and RS232. details

I've seen projects to run Linux on Pocket PC pda's, there was also one for palm pilot. There are all the other linux distros for Amiga, Atari ST, Sun boxen, etc. Quantum's little NAS boxes run Linux. I've seen one for cisco routers once.
