personalised logger - need some help

I am creating my own log sorter.. at the moment I am working on filtering my squid logs.

at the moment i have a script that
seperates the log into ip addresses
then deletes any log files created that are empty..

What i want to do now ideally is to list out how many times an address was accessed instead of having 50 entries for www.linuxquestions.com (including sub pages and images so including /furoms /contact.htm etc etc) the log file would show

50 - www.linuxquestions. i would also like to get rid of the text i dont want.

sooo... this is a squid log:

Code:
1078195520.070 1299 192.168.1.27 TCP_MISS/200 1415 POST http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/search.php - DIRECT/64.179.4.146 text/html
1078195522.071 48 192.168.1.27 TCP_IMS_HIT/304 214 GET http://images.linuxquestions.org/que...xQuestions.gif - NONE/- image/gif
1078195522.090 18 192.168.1.27 TCP_IMS_HIT/304 214 GET http://images.linuxquestions.org/que...s/top_quiz.gif - NONE/- image/gif
so i would have that to come out as

3 - http://www.linuxquestions.org

any ideas?

i know their are log programs out there but i want to learn this kinda stuff

Thanks
Chris
