Hello all I'm a newb in dire need of advice on how to install my V.92 pctel hsp56. I tried getting the pctel driver pctel-0.9.6. But it gives me an error that the driver and kernel were compiled with conflicting versions of gcc or some nonsense.
That 'nonsense' will most likely allow someone to diagnose your problem. A detailed description of what you have done so far will help more than 'tried getting' does. What distro you use would be icing on the cake...
Sounds like you got some pre compiled binaries that are incompatible with RH8 (did they to to GCC 3.x with this version?). In any case you probably need to get the source from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/pctel-linux/ and compile it yourself for your system.
