In most cases yes (unless you have an exclusively SCSI-oriented system). The IDE chipset controls the IDE drives on your computer. Examples of the chipset include SiS, Highpoint, Serverworks, VIA, etc.

Hello Cincindie !!

I know I need ATA/IDE support because my mobo have ATA 100/66 2 IDE channels. But Im unsure about the PCI IDE chipset support. I dont think I have PCI-based IDE interfaces in my system.

regards

According to the help available, for PCI IDE Chipset Support (BLK_DEV_IDEPCI), it says, "Say Y here for PCI systems which use IDE drivers. This option helps the IDE driver to automatically detect and configure all PCI-based IDE interfaces in your system." But then, they have a different option for add-on PCI IDE cards (needed to add more than 4 ICE devices to your computer). I didn't see an option for built-in IDE driver support. So, I'm thinking its probably safe to say Y here. The kernel size will probably increase by <5k.
