Red face passwords

This maybe a petty thing, but when I log in to Suse Linux I don't get the password or asterisks in the password field. Is this normal? I thought asterisks appeared at one time. The same thing happens when I log out.At one time I didn't have to use a password to log out; I just clicked "OK" as Shutdown was already bulleted. What can I do? i think it depends on the window manager that you're using. if you're running kde i believe kdm shows all the password characters as * and it doesn't require password to shutdown.

if you're concern about this, don't start kdm on startup. it'll log you into console and you'll require password to shutdown.

password issue

If youre using kde.2.1 as a user login manger you could change that featutre at: k>>configuration>>kde>>system>>kdelogin.

Not really sure cuz i use Mandrake so things could be a little different...

And if you are talking console mode, some people call it text mode) I have no idea...
