Lightbulb password for single user mode

According the digit magzine(fast track) april 2006 they had specified that we can enable password for the single user mode by appending the line in /etc/inittab file

id:S:wait:/sbin/sulogin

but they didn't specified where to append

I tried to append on last line of the file it didn't worked

so have any idea regarding this
