I have a Asus Eee Pc 2g Surf (I think thats whats is called) I have had it for about 3 years i do not use it that often but today i turn it no and it says "Welcome
Jh h"
and it wants a password
1. i do not know who or what is Jh h
2 i do not know what the password is
What distribution are you running? And at what stage does it say this - is it at the black screen with white text (terminal) or have the graphics started (X server)? Also, it might be helpful at this stage to mention what bootloader you're using (probably either GRUB or LILO)
And do you see something like this? Or something more like that?
EDIT: Actually, either way, you can probably follow this guide to booting into 'single user mode' on your netbook. You only need the first set of 10 steps. You can then type "passwd jhh" and change their password hopefully, you can reboot and login
EDIT AGAIN: Actually, I just realised it asks for "jh h"'s password, not "jhh"'s... I've never heard of a username with spaces in it, but you might be able to try
Code:
passwd "jh h"
and see if that works. However, I feel something stranger is going on :S perhaps while you're in single user mode try typing
i tryed to follow the guide i pressed f9
and i got a black screen with white words it says
"Normal Boot", "Perform Disk Scan", and "Restore Factory Settings"
but i can not select any thing it says "use the up or down keys to select which enty is highlighted.
pass enter to boot the selected OS. 'e' to edit the commands before booting. or 'c' for a command-line."
e does not work and neither does up or down. right arrow just takes me back to the main menu
if i press c this comes up " [Miniam BASH-line editing is suppored. For the first word. TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible completions of a device/filename. ESC at any time exits.]
Hm, I'm sorry, I don't really think I can help you that much... If you could press the 'e' to edit command-line options, that would be ideal, but the fact it's not working sounds to me more like a hardware issue than a software issue (though with the other strange things happening I guess it could be either...)
Your best bet might be to just re-install the operating system
