Partitioning without Linux

I'm cleaning off a hard drive and want to set up a partition for Linux now, eventhough I don't have the disks. Can I do this with only the XP CD?

I'm not familiar with XP's installer but if its the same as Windows2K, during the bit that asks about hard drives, partitions, etc.. you can create your partitions there.

Just a unformatted partition would do just fine, Linux will detect and see it during its install process.

If you have an entire hard drive that you're wiping out, just drop in your linux disc, run fdisk and do whatever you want with your partitioning scheme.

Well, since you don't have the discs yet I think you'll have some trouble since Windows XP doesn't seem to have an option for partitioning a drive, only to select which partition to install on. You could just install XP and then down the road try to pick up a copy of Partition Magic or something.
