Partitioning scheme ideas..

Ok, I'm preparing for another wipe and reload. I'm trying to decide how I want to arrange my partition scheme. This is for a desktop machine that also does various server work (Samba file server, NFS, ssh, Apache, MySQL/PHP).

I need a 100gb partition for /home. The rest is up for suggestions. I have a ~160gb drive (of course, it's not actually that much).

I've always heard that putting /boot on it's own partition is a good idea, but I have never been able to get that to work - I'm using Slack 10. I'm assuming I'm not passing all the right info to LILO or something.

I'm also considering putting /var/log on it's own partition, just to ensure log flooding doesn't happen.

If you'd like to throw in arguments on ReiserFS vs. Ext3, go ahead. I'll be doing my own research though, and it's not really the main question. I've been a Reiser fan for a while, but I've heard that Reiser has corruption issues, and I hate losing data (I have backup solutions in place, but I hate the downtime). Reliability, speed, and space efficiency is what I want, in that order.
