ext2 is one of the filesystems supported by linux, swap is the "filesystem", ok it's not realy a filesystem used for the swap partition.
For the sizes you will get abount 1000 different answers. I would say swap = amount of ram, ext2 the rest (bigger is better).
I prefer staying with the settings the installer gives me. And I also prefer reiserfs over ext2 (reiserfs was significantly faster on my old machine, but I don't know why), maybe ext3 is also worth a try (here also, stay with the installer propositions unless you know what you're doing).

Try to stay away from partition magic (i have had my experiences ) if you do wish to use it, try a newer version, or at least back up all necessary data....and also your swap should be at least double your ram....

I haven't had any problems with PM but then again. You proabaly don't have any free space on the drive so you will need to repartition it. RH's installer is able to create the necessary partitions in the free space. It helps to read up on the process before you actually do it for the first time.

PM is a very good progs but I saw few incompatibility between it and Linux. Also, I think you should upgrade your EXT2 files system to a Ext3 fs.... Ext2 doesn't support journalling system but Ext3 does.
