I have a hdd that I would like to repartition (if possible) There is a primary and extended. In the extended partition there are 5 ext3's. Before the partition I do not want to loose data. At first I was under the impression I could combine these, later found out that can't be done. Is it possible to just delete these 5 ext3's and then just create 1 larger partition, w/ out effecting my "storage" partition?
Yes, you can certainly delete the additional partition and recreate one big partition in their place. But beware that the partition numbering will most likely change after you do that, so /dev/sdc9 will become something like /dev/sdc5 or /dev/sdc6. And you'll have to change your /etc/fstab or other config files if you mount this partition by the device name.
