Question Output of 'top' as backgrond

I have been thinking about this for a couple of days. I'd like to have 'top' appear as part of my desktop background.

The obvious solution would be to launch 'top' in a transparent ATERM session at startup but I like it to not have any window title bar. In fact, I'd like this terminal session to be non-interactive and non-movable just like torsmo.

Another idea would be to show the output of top or maybe just the five busiest processes within torsmo.

One way would be to abuse roottail and pipe the output of
top into a file that you present to roottail as a logfile ... but
you REALLY shouldn't do that (unless the machine is bored
out of its tree at all times, otherwise the overhead you create
monitoring may slow the box down significantly).

I'd recommend you have a look at "xrootconsole".

I haven't used it myself, but it sounds like what you're looking for.
