It's not the matter of a distro, it's a matter of the person using it. My Mandrake now looks like LFS

next time when i install mandrake,
i'd select small rpms as possible
and compile kernel with small options/modules

is there anything else?

I've got nearly everything compiled from source. Not many rpms left...
