Out of Memory problem

I am running apache on a i486 with 8Mb ram. I've added 32 Mb swap-space to compensate for the low amount of ram. Still I get numerous messages like these:

Out of Memory: Killed process xxxx (apache).

When checking my resources:

ps -C apache v

PID TTY STAT TIME MAJFL TRS DRS RSS %MEM COMMAND
434 ? S 0:38 36539 218 70037 92 1.4 /usr/sbin/apache

Swap: 32996 3588 29408
Total: 39280 9064 30216

There is another apache problem, but I don't know if this is related. Cron once mailed:

error running shared postrotate script for /var/log/apache/*.log
run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/logrotate exited with return code 1.

Does anyone know what to do.

Additionally:

/etc/crontab:

25 6 * * * root test -e /usr/sbin/anacron || run-parts --report /etc/cron.daily

And ps -C apache f reveals STIME of the instances of apache to be 6:28.

What's cron telling me?
