Options for starting programs in KDE-Menue?
When I investigated the KDE start-menu with K-Menu I found that e.g. K3b is started like
/home/user/install/k3b-0.8.1/src -caption "%c" %i %m I searched my books and the KDE.org site but to no avail. Can somebody please point me into the direction where I can find out the meaning of those parameters (there is also at least one more: %u)? Reason: I compiled K3b o.k., integration into KDE is not hassle free, though, and I want to understand what I do. A further question (apart from what they do) is, whether these options are needed when one starts K3b from the command line... |
Not sure which OS your using but the command line to launch this program may not be the same letters such as you type k-menu to get kde to launch. Also to get gnome to run in a command line it takes you typing gnome-session.
Also want to point out once you launch this program none of these end options are going to make a difference because this is a GUI program it should start without all the hopla. good luck but I imagine u figured this out by know...... |

My concern is your not stating your question clearly if your having trouble using the program either see the website for programmers remarks or go to freshmeat.net which could point you to a more user friendly program desinged to do the same thing.....
Sorry I'm not sure how experienced you are or if you have used other distros besides Suse 8.1... Suse was the first Linux Distro I used but it gave to many headaches for infact it combines to many functions and makes its graphical user interface hard to use. later :D |
No. Those options are not needed when one starts K3b from the command line.

But thanks for mentioning freshmeat.net, I'll go there. And as to the programmers site: "I searched my books and the KDE.org site" (see original post). That was of no real help here. But you are right, I am not experienced (only SuSE 6.4 and 8.1), that's why I'm asking these questions here ... ;) . |
