Opinions on imaging and deployment

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for suggestions on the easiest way to deploy a linux distro. (for the purposes of this end user, i'm leaning toward opensuse or kubuntu)
they want to start experimenting with linux, and i want to make it as painless as possible. being windows admins they don't have any scripting skills, so i think point and click is the way to go.

they're familiar with ghost, and was thinking that i'd use ext3 and let them ghost away. Most of the hardware would probably sort itself out, i'm just worried about xorg.conf.

I'm going to have them use kde's kiosk mode to restrict the desktops, and i'd like to be able to have this done on install, wich is why i'm leaning towards imaging.

any thoughts?

For a Debian based distro you could look at FAI
http://www.informatik.uni-koeln.de/fai/

Quote:
FAI is an automated installation tool to install or deploy Debian GNU/Linux and similar distributions on a Linux Cluster or a bunch of different hosts. It's similar but more flexible than other tools like kickstart for Red Hat, autoyast and alice for SuSE or Jumpstart for SUN Solaris.

You can take one or more virgin PCs, turn on the power and after a few minutes Linux is installed, configured and running on the whole cluster, without any interaction necessary
