Unhappy oops - screwed up inittab, can't boot

I was going to change my inittab from 5 to 3, but for reasons i'm still trying to figure out, hit 9, saved it, and rebooted, without realizing my mistake.

Now I can't boot into linux at all.

If it helps at all, I'm running RH 8 with grub as the boot loader.

Can anyone give me any hints or tips? Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

OK, nevermind. I'd forgotten to mention that I didn't have a boot disk, but its all moot now anyhow. I used the rescue mode on the installation cd.
