Unhappy Lvm??

Just a simple question
Do we need to make our mountinf offline in order to reduce or extend the LVM and the commands i am using are,,

lvreduce-->reduction of LVM

lvextend-->extension of LVM
ex2online-->online format

Without going offline!!

Question:Is that right i dnt have to go offline??
