wonder if anyone can help me.

my system uses dhcp to get an ip address (which is not always successful on the first attemptm ) cause i have uni network access and home network access and its just easier this way.

current system set up:-

i have dhcpcd running at boot utilising rc.local to run this, then i also have the firewall script starting and then snort. my problem is i dont always get a ip address the first time.

the way i want the system to be set up :-

run dhcpcd on boot up, if it gets and ip address then run subsequent scripts to run the firewall and snort. i know i could create a script to run at boot time to do this but what i really want is when the network is up then run the scripts would make my life easier u see

also similar kinda thing for acpi

if the laptop is running on battery power i want acpi to run a program that dims my screen automatically, and when the ac is plugged in to pump the screen back up to full brightness..

is this possible..
