Olympus USB Camera Connectivity
Hello,
I am using Red Hat 9.0 on a PC with built in USB ports (2). I am trying to utilize the camera software (gPhoto) with my Olympus camera (not sure of my camera model ??D480/C100??). The OS appears to "see" the camera, though I cannot access it, (not sure if I'm even doing that correctly), but the gPhoto sofware cannot see it either. I checked the supported cameras in gPhoto, and mine is not listed; though others similar to it are. Questions: 1. Can I access the camera via command line? 2. Is there another camera application available that could possibly work? Many Thanks! Rob |
If you see the camera listed from a dmesg output and the module is being loaded for it, usually the usb_storage module can be used, in most cases you can mount /dev/sda1 to view, copy, etc all the files from the camera.

Thank you for the assistance! I will give this a try.

Hi bhf -
linux-usb.org doesn't have the models you mentioned listed, but you might have some luck by looking at similar models: LINK I have a c-3040 and access it perfectly via command line (never tried gphoto) - here's a very good walkthrough. don't know if it will work with yours, but may help: http://www.schubart.net/c3040zoom/linux-usb.html good luck  |
Very good links!! Thank you!
