I have an OKI Data paperweight model which is actually a L.E.D printer and not a Laser printer with a usb cable.Generically it's a single color mono printer.It has a image drum like a laser printer. OKI Data only offers drivers for Windows God dammit! I tried to load the windows software on wine and "yea it didn't work". It was however a better idea than my computer buddies of trying a virtual machine to do it, don't you think? I've tried the ppd file that is on the Ubuntu site but the helper file states that is not indeed in the correct format.I've tried ppd's for the B4100 and the 4200 with no success. It did print once with the model selected to the Epson 24 pin.I loaded a RPM file that was from Mandriva ; which I haven't been able to find again,but I don't know how to tell if it works.task-printing-okidata-2008-4mdv2008.0.i586.rpm. is what I installed.Where did it go?

Bad news you should have gone for the B2400. The B2200 lacks resident fonts & PCL support and is a true "windows only" printer.

If you want an OKI a better choice would be the B4600 (much more expensive) as it has a LCD control panel, OKI don't supply status panel software for Linux so you can't reset drum counters etc on B series units which lack LCDs.

I took my own advice that I learned from phone modems and bought a product that would work out of the box. Samsung and Brother printers are Linux friendly. If you go to the less known retailers of them, they usually include the listing for Linux capability or not. http://www.albertaprinter.com/albert...tDetail_en.jspNewEgg and TigerDirect didn't, to the best of my recognition. You do have to configure the (smallest font option) on the browser or text editor/word-processor it's self, NOT the printer options. It's under preferences usually. If you try to adjust the font's any other way it won't work.
