Ok, dumb question. If I install a Mandrake kernel RPM, where does it install to?

Ive got the RPM's and I need to start compiling, but I cant find where the RPM's installed to:confused:

it should be installed in /usr/src/ :)

Its not, I looked.:(

there is a kernel rpm and a kernel-source rpm. If you want to compile your own kernel, look for
kernel-source
this will install the source under /usr/src

(notice that kernel-source is different from a kernel-*.src.rpm; you want a kernel-source rpm and not a src.rpm)

Yep, thats what I got.

so you installed the kernel source rpm with
rpm -ivh kernel-source-whatever

(or with rpmdrake) and it didn't error out and you have nothing under
/usr/src? There should be a directory linux-version-number in there.

Doh! Ive got it now. I havent compiled in months, and Compaq wiped my disk when I sent my computer back  so it takes a few for this all to come back. Geez, I feel like a n00b again :D
