I build many systems. This OEM system would be an demo machine for the local school district. Im working on having them convert to Linux for the entire district and they would like to first run a demo machine. Mine aswell help out a company thats supporting linux as OEM aswell... so we can all benifit.
eh?

You might want to browse the Gateway website too, I think they have a few with RedHat installed too.

Not entirely on topic, but:

Would doing this change how these school(s) are affected by the new Microsoft Schools Licensing Scheme (or whatever it's called)? You know, the one where even if your machine doesn't run MS software, because it can run MS software you should pay for it.

They would be runing the entire network off Linux. Replacing the 98/2k workstations and Novell server. Their contract is up and ready for resubscription in a few months so im trying my best for them to run Linux. their are no MS required classes so the requiresments are really lax. Just training would be needed but im learning enough to take that on as a consulting job. :)

they love the idea and i really really hope it goes through. Im even recording all information created from this and once it's finished (even if they don't go through with it) I will post it as documentation that others can learn off of... hopefully.

Im trying my best :)

I believe Dell only installs when you specify for them to preinstall Redhat instead of Windows. Try searching their site, I came up with some links about Dell and Linux on from their search function.
