Odd issue with pointer alignment
This is a relatively new issue. It cropped up in the last couple of weeks after running updates.
I am running a home rolled version of UB12.04 that I call "X-Gnome" on both mine and my wife's machines. We have run this setup for several years w/o this issue.
X-Gnome was built from the minimal CLI UB12.04 install up. I took the XFCE4 DE, removed all the tools (sys tools, utilities, media players, almost everything but the DE itself, I kept a couple of things like Thunar) and "grafted" the full gnome suite on to it minus the Gnome DE; all the gnome sys tools, media tools, etc, etc by creating my own meta-packages.
It has worked great for years.
But now, after recent updates, the pointer is out of alignment with the screen. I.E, I want to click on a box, I have to be about an 1/8th of an inch to the right of where I want to click. On big buttons, etc it's no big deal. But when you're talking about "slim" things like scroll bars and small radio buttons it is becoming maddening.
It is happening on both mine and my wife's machine.
On my machine I have tried changing the theme, the window manager and the pointers and tweaking the window manager. I can't think of any other places to look. Any ideas?
NB: Not sure if it makes any dif, but the issue occurs in vbox VMs as well and is actually more pronounced in my deb8 VM than it is on my hardware w/ UB12.04 X-G.
