-Wine cannot be used for .Net.
-Do not want to install Windows for the purpose.
-Do not want to use Mono.
The option I am left with is installing a Virtual machine on Linux and then installing Windows on it and then installing .Net !
-Is this feasible ?
-Will I be able to save the data created on Virtual Machine ?
-While connecting to internet through the Virtual Machine does underlying OS play a role there ?
Kindly guide !

Absolutely it is.

Absolutely you can. In fact you can even share the data between the host and virtual machine.

I don't quite understand this question. Play a role regarding what exactly? As far as your virtual machine is concerned, it is a physical box. It doesn't know it is being hosted on a GNU/Linux machine.

{BBI}Nexus{BBI},
Many thanks to you for the information.
I did not know that the virtual machine does not know anything about the hosted machine.
So does this mean I'll have to install the anti-virus too as we always do ?
and one thing more:
All this is going to be installed on HP Pavilion Laptop which does not support Windows XP.
According to you this will not effect the Win XP installation on the VM ?

Yes you do. You need to treat the virtual machine as though it was a physical box.

It shouldn't as all the devices used in the virtual machine are well virtual. So the host machines restrictions should not apply to the virtual machine. Except in the areas of the amount of ram you can take from the host for the virtual machine, and how much drive space you can give it.
