NVIDIA XFree86 problem ?

I've tried to run some front-end applications
that are supposed to display a graphics window.
I get a message

Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0"

Is this somehow related to the NVIDIA XFree86 driver ?
How can I correct this ?

what distro are you using??? have you managed to actually start the x server???

maybe you should check your /etc/X11/XF86Config or /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 and make sure you have a line in the module section that says:

Load "glx"

did you install the official nvidia drivers???

This possibly has to do with permissions also. Try running the app. as root.
