NVidia driver with different kernels

Hi all!

I am having a little problem here.

NVidia drivers work nice and grerat, like they should, on my Slack 10.0 featuring Kernel 2.4.26

Now I compield a 2.4.28 and I get errors about the NVidia-drivers ... when trying to reinstall them I get the message I have to uninstall the installed ones first. I aborted here because I was afraid it could ruin something.

Can someone tell me what is best here? Can I use both kernels without having to reinstall the drivers everytime?

Greetings, Sascha

this shoulnd't be a problem. what i'd suggest is that in order to keep the nvidia installer happy, maually remove the 2.4.26 nvidia.o and keep it somewhere safe, then install for 2.4.28 and then replace the original nvidia.o for the other kernel. this is only the basic driver though, and the glx driver is standard on X, so will overwrite it. this is operating at a different level to the kernel driver though, so shouldn't matter.
