Num Lock at startup solution for KDE and Gnome

Hi all. I'd like to recipocate a useful fix for a small but highly annoying problem I've dealt with - getting that rotten numlock key to be turned on by default! I have no use for the right side of my keyboard with that key turned off.
This site explains how to do it for both KDE and gnome. I'm running Fedora (using gnome) and the fix was very very easy! (despite the site mentioning it would be "slightly more difficult"). I'm not always a fan of compiling form source, but this was not problematic in the slightest.

Yeah, that does look easy. Looks like the same kind of thing, except an RPM rather then a make file.

To get it going in gnome you click on Desktop-->Preferences-->More preferences-->Sessions then go to the startup Programs tab and clck Add. You either browse to or write /bin/numlock and you can leave the number 50.

In KDE the procedure is similar.

Lock Keys applet

I've also found (with Fedora 8 / Gnome) that putting the 'Lock Keys' applet on one of my panels remembers whatever the state of those keys was when I shut the machine down. Hope that helps...
