NTLM via smbclient works, but doesn't in KDE.
I've been fighting this forever, and so have many other people, but every post I read concerning a similar problem goes unanswered. I'm hoping my luck will be different here. My linux box is in a Windows domain, I authenticate into the box just fine via pam_winbind etc. When I run a smbclient [share] -k, I'm able to access the share without problems. However, when I run:
konqueror smb://[share]
I'm forced to enter in my user and password, and my .xsession-errors shows the following last lines:
SPNEGO login failed: Logon failure
session setup ok
smbc errno NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED -> 13
Now, what I don't understand is why konqueror, opperating through the same mechanisms as smbclient, would fail to authenticate to the exact same share that smbclient can successfully authenticate to. Apparently my woes are rare because most bug fixes etcetera say that ntlm is fully supported in KDE 3.4.2 which is my version. How is it possible to even authenticate to the AD via KDM if konqueror can't authenticate via the same mechanisms? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Mike.
