You reinstalled XP after installing Linux? If so, most likely that Window$ has rewritten the MBR, the place where a dual-booter is supposed to be installed and therefore it removed grub. That's wht you don't get the alternative of choosing between the OSs. You might have to reinstall grub into the MBR. That should be done using a recovery CD, Knoppix maybe or maybe your distro's CD can boot in recovery mode.

If you have a live linux CD like knoppix, you can get to your linux partitions and execute grub-installer which can write to the MBR and restore it as the bootloader. It is possble to use the Windows NT bootloader which is NTLDR.exe, if you search goolge for NTLDR+Linux you might find a way there. Finally, if your distro's install CD has a restore fuction, SusE does, you can restore the MBR and it should recover the dual boot
