not able to work with vimrc in ubuntu 18.04

Hi,
Iam Gowri Shanker and i'm really facing a serious issue here.

Recently i installed Ubuntu 18.04 in my laptop and when i try to change the .vimrc settings i couldn't find it.

So, tried creating it in my home directory but it is not working with vim to create my desired mapping settings and when i press a key i mapped in .vimrc file it just does a quirky action.

can i rectify this situation and be able to create a map in my .vimrc file.

You haven't given much information. How did you try to create the .vimrc? If you are in your home directory,
Code:
vim .vimrc
should create the file. Then just put in what you want and save with <esc>:wq

I think that posting your attempt at the mapping might be a good step...

Logout of the desktop and back in. if your .vimrc file isn't being read, then owner:perms / other diagnostic.

Straight text there.
Open your "File Manager" and press Ctrl+H and release.. See it?
Ctrl+[hH] again to toggle on|off

terminal >
Code:
find `echo $PWD` -name '.vimrc' -type f
see it in the result?
