noatun - cannot connect

I have RH 8.0 with KDE 3.0.3-8 installed and my
neither noatun or kaboodle work. It seems to be a problem
with connecting to the dcop server. Any advice?

[txa@jacob 021202]$ noatun
mcop warning: user defined signal handler found for SIG_PIPE, overriding
unix_connect: can't connect to server (unix:/tmp/mcop-txa/jacob-2cd2-3e1da6c2)
Launched ok, pid = 11539
