No sound in CentOS

Well, thats not entirely true. I get a very fast beeping-type noise, whether or not I am running an application with media of any sort. Is there a way to fix this? I would really like to have sound on my system...given I just bought it.

You could try running "alsaconf" as root. This may help locate and install missing drivers for you sound system. Also look for a FC configuration for sound if that isn't enough. Also make sure that you are a member of the "sound" group.
