No sound for Acer Aspire M3202 desktop computer on 32-bit kubuntu 8.04
No sound for Acer Aspire M3202 desktop computer on 32-bit kubuntu 8.04
when playing a CD with Amarok or "speaker-test -c2 -twav".
However, sound is working for the same computer playing the same CD on 32-bit ubuntu 9.04, so hw is not the issue.
Acer does not support linux so they do not answer my question.

dmesg:
[ 234.407317] hda-intel: Invalid position buffer, using LPIB read
method instead.
I had used alsamixer to set the volume to a reasonable value.
Graphics hw is ATI Radeon HD 3200.
CPU is AMD Phenom 8550 Triple-Core Processor.
Please help to fix the audio problem.
Thanks.
