no sound at startup

hey guys,

i'm using FC3 and at startup by default the volume is on 0 and there's no sound. I've come up with a short term solution which is to add the sound mixer applet to the panel and then increase the wave volume which is 0 by default. How do I set it up so that I don't have to do this everytime I startup linux?

Thanks,
